RENA, a.k.a. Rena Kubota, is going to fight Doras Perjes from Hungary in the upcoming RIZIN Yokohama Arena show on April 16th.
Its more than obvious that, in the world of RIZIN, a 25-year old Shoot Boxing champ RENA is the center of Japan’s women’s MMA.
She is only 3-0 but her popularity is way up there among the Japanese MMA fans.
For RIZIN, its very important to keep her winning. For at least, couple more fights till women’s GP starting from fall.
In that sense, this is a brilliant matchmaking.
Perjes is the inaugural HFC strawweight champ with pro MMA record of 7-1 with 7 submission wins.
However, she hasn’t fought since March 2015, and also, seven opponents Perjes got submission wins from, has a combined MMA record of 4-15.
Sure, in the women’s MMA its still not easy to get fights in the so-called feeder show market so Perjes probably took whatever the fights she could get. Its not her fault that all of her opponents has a losing record. And most importantly, Perjes maybe unproven against the world-class fighters but she is a solid talent. Also, this is important in Japan’s women’s MMA. Perjes is a very good looking woman.
That’s why this is a great matchmaking and the only concern is, how Perjes would be fighting after two years of absence from the sport.
